Well since Crazzy asked....

I was browsing a site when I found a review for this program called Magic Workstation. At the time I had Suitcase, Apprentice, and some card maker on my computer. After reading about MWS I followed the link to this homepage and did the DL. WOW I really liked it alot.
Within 3 days I had bought 2 keys (third one coming early next year) and had deleted the other 3 programs.

The Good...

1. Quick response to questions and problems.

2. Having the 3 functions all in 1 program is fantastic.

3. While others have different experiances, I have had no problems. BTW I think alot of the problems stem from memory / platform issues. ( 1.6 Pentium 4, 80gig HD, 512Mb ddr sdram, XP Home and like I said NO problems) I really think once the code gets optimized alot of the problems will vanish.

4. Overall I like the layout, somethings are not intuitive but in general it's very good.

The Bad...

1. FIX THE DAMNED MDB!!! At the very least the missing and error cards from the main sets should be added / fixed. The fact that a card from something like Starter is missing and the kobolds from Legends are artifacts instead of red creatures is ridiculous. We're talking about adding features like AI or draft or whatever and the MDB is not even correct. Afterwards I can start bitching about promo cards and stuff LOL
/rant

2. Help documentation. I know that this is being held off untill the 1.0 release. I would suggest a new read only "Documentation" Forum. A mod could move common question threads with good answers, as well as any "help" topics the community might write, there.

Most anything else I would mention is more along the lines of personal preference, rather then being a problem.

Things I would like to see...

Draft
Card search more like Apprentice

MWS is THE program for MTG in my opinion. Keep up the great work guys.

In current database format this very hard to edit and fix, even for us.
In 0.95 we make database in simple XML file, and we and all users may be edit this in any text editor. We make full MTG cards database after 0.95 release.

First problem for documentation - many changes in MWS before 1.0 released. Second problem - our English is poor, and for my difficult enough write in English (I would like write much and more in detail, but I can't). Soon we will write documentation in Russian and order translation to English, but this expencive enought for us (about 10$ per 1000 characters) and we cant make changes in documentation very often.

About card search more like Apprentice - this will implemented soon (before 1.0) in MWSPlay.exe (simple Deck Builder like Apprentice)

hehehe... i was going to write a rudimentary help for MWS, but I have to do schoolwork and there is so much about MWS that even I dont know about....

I came across MWS late November last year when I saw it as a link (from a link on E-league) described as:
Quote:
'This great new program, much better than apprentice. Probably will become the new standard for online magic'
. It was still free, so I got it... it ran well, and I joined the forums 2 weeks later.... and I've been posting ever since...

Problems:
1. it hates my computer... It wont run 5/10 times one first run, and 9/10 times on second, and never on 3rd run... probably my puny 128MB memory, but it should be able to run from swap...

2. I spend so much time posting on these forums these days I cant actually use MWS, so I actually have very little credibility when I talk to newbs, since I use it only around once a month, or per prerelease edition in the SBT forum.

Sorry, Long Post, but when I click Send it crashes...

MWSLibrary... never on MWSPlay...

OK, just tried now... it seems it is one of its "bad moods"...

it occurs around 1/9th of the way through the load bar... when you click OK on your nice error messages, it immediately continues without laoding anything more and show immediatley. the window is stuck in Deck Edit mode. It does not show the cards in the rows, it does not show the card image on the special tab (which is on the left instead of my normal right) and the rulings arent there either. The special menus tjhat look like Office Xp dont show either, just normal menus...

Any attempt to do anything throws an exception like this:

Code:
Access violation at address 0083D40A in module 'MAGICWORKSTATION.EXE'. Read of address FFFFFFFF.

This is the first error that i get (when its loading up):

Code:
#########Main Body of Error##############

Error reading cbCreatureTypeDelimiter.Items.Strings: System Error.  Code: 87.
The parameter is incorrect.
