In MTGO, you can usually tell what phase your opponent is in because of the sound (as well as the visual icons, of course)...but I believe that MWS can easily implement that function as to help speed up the overall game process, because I tend to see players wait at my End of Turn Step because they didn't know I finished...they usually have to look at the Icon or the program stating it in the chat window...but I'll bet you if a BELL sounded off it would help improve it all, or better yet how about a .WAV file voice saying: "Main Phase", "Combat Phase", "End of Turn Phase" and etc...so how does this idea grab ya?!

(PLEASE VOTE...I believe this can be a very useful feature in the future!)

Rolling Eyes dorry, i think it's not a good idea...

when playing real magic matches, I don't claim as a fool: "watch out, my enemy, i'm going to attack you since this is my combat phase!!! I'll conquer the world... world will be... MINE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAH... MUUUUAAAAHAHAHA!!!" and so on...

from a pure programmer's point of view, it's not only completely unnecessary, but it will also weight down the piece of software...

it will probably attract some users, but it will make it look more like a slot machine instead of a magic emulator...

these are simply my €0.02...

I think a nice, apprentice-like (this is one of the few times you will see me put 'nice' and apprentice in the same apragraph ) tick will be quite enough, nothing over the top, and definantly not voice... maybe 2 ticks, one for speech (louder or higher pitch) and game actions.

Speaking with the opponent "sounds" so good. It's better speaking than typing, if both talk the same language, and if not, at least the typing option is there.
At least every sound should be seleccted by he mws player. Like at a resource editor XD

what about if during a "voice" match, the 2 players start to complain about something...
i imagine ppl assuring "I said that him by voice: he's trying to cheat me!" and the same from the other part: "No he didn't said nothing about it! He's the one who tryes to cheat me!"
of course, voice cannot be recorded due to disk space occupation...
and more, what about if 2 players don't speak the same language?
i think voice chat during play is almost useless...
sorry man... but we should stick with important features...

I agree with Corvo.. Voice chat is pretty useless. Look at Counter Strike now, with the voice chat (Ok, different genre, but same thing). People yell and scream about cheaters, and end up being annoying. Plus, the different languages would bar it from being useful. I'm in the USA, and most people I play are in Europe, like Germany and Russia. I don't speak either of those, so most of my games would be without voice anyway.

Sound effects are needed though. like MTGO, for each phase maybe. It helps to know what's going on when I'm on another program at the same time.

I think sound might be needed, and voice would be a nice "option" not for use in tournaments. It would be fun to talk during games if both players spoke same language, but as far as it being someting we "need", I agree with most, we don't.

Voice chat is a useless, hard-drive-space-taking addition.
SOund is good, as long as i can customise it so i only hear a tick when something happens, instead of those stupid MTGO sounds.

No, it should be customisable, for my beep sound is actualluy a dragon roar, and hearing a dragon roar everytime somehing happens is rather annoying....

Actually the language problem is greater in text then voice isn't it? I can speak some spanish but writing it is a whole different thing, hell I have a hard enough time spelling english ( fonix werkd 4 me.) .
With respect to not having a record of what was said during a game this shouldn't be an issue during friendly games at all. In more formal tourny situations the standing rule would be all disputes must be in text. Right now my play group uses yahoo voice conferance during games so we could live without voice for now.
Customizable beeps would be great!!!

i voted for:

YES, both SOUNDS & VOICES should be added!

But only if you could turn them on/off, that way people that want it (like me) can use it, and people that dont can turn then off, and everyone is happy

sounds: great, Voice sounds: eh

Voice chat? i dont think that was the question.
However, if ppl did want to do it, there are a few progs out there that online team play gamers use. Specifically, Teamspeak 2 www.teamspeak.org. Mostly CS and Tribes2 players use it, but its simple to use and works great (better with broadband).

Personnaly I think that sounds should be added , voices only if it doesn't messed up with the program
I'm Portuguese and I often play with people that uses english to type , so voices would be only valuable if the two opponents speak the same language.

Sound would be great. The user can make the sounds whatever he wants them to be, from just being a tick sound to being as thorough as having wav voices saying "Untap step, upkeep step, draw step, player draws a card" etc.
