During quite a few games, I get the message, "Player Lost". Why is this and what can I do to fix it?

it means that you have lost the connection with that player... which means:

a) they disconnected
b) their modem dropped out
c) the connection is unstable

usually your opponents are moronic unfair sore loosers who cant handle their soon-to-be loss, so they quit or concede as theyre about to loose, i think this is unfair to the other player, so ive created a blacklist of these people's nicknames, and i give them a lecture about it if i can be bothered

Well, I usually forfeit the game if I know I have no more moves and no chance of coming back (like in chess). Saves around 30 seconds for shuffling. Why, is this bad form?

Oh yeah, I do this in real life, not online.

Of course its bad form... eg: in chess, you actually say 'I concede'... if you want to concede, type 'I concede', allow time for them to say 'k, i win, gg, report' and then disconnect...

I think its unfair to the other player even if you sufficently let them know that you want to concede; it's a game that is supposed to be enjoyed by both players, i think its stupid to give up when you have no chance, because it makes it far less enjoyable to the other player

I must agree with Willbender. I was wondering, could "Player Dropped" mean that they just left the game? Or does it specifically have to do with disconnecting?

Also, there whould be a new button implaced, and players shouldn't be allowed to quit unless they formally hit that button. They can't just leave the game. At least this way, you will know if they disconnected or they just left.

I can see that you come from california, so you can't use the 'people not only from US' excuse, as my previous post was directed at americans, most people here are from there too. (is 'n00b' an insult??)
I don't think i should shut up because im complaining about people who quit, i should yell at them!

if you want to have a slanging match about the bloody idiocy of americans, ahve it in chatter.

As for my opinion on the matter:

if your playing a league game: concede after telling tem. your only wasting their time...

if playing casual: DONT QUIT!!! if your playing casually, your opponents want to play a fun game, not a load of crap opponent quitting just whjen they werre to swing for 10000...

As for your opinion on the matter Brainwad I totaly agree. In league games once you can't win or are going to lose it's time to scoop and move on to the next game or go report, and you should tell them and get their acknowledgement. In casual it's just as cool to get swung at for 10,000 as it is to swing for that amount.

As for the arguing about the "idiocy" of Americans perhaps you didn't read my post correctly. I didn't argue pro or con American, nor did I slam anyones culture or their intelligence. Truefully I generally find such broad sweeping statements rather silly. But I'll be damned if I'll just read a post that wants to slam my country/culture without saying something. This is a MWS board if anyone would like to talk geopolitics, or just trash talk cultures/countries I'll be happy to direct them to some boards/chats where thats what they do. Otherwise keep it about MWS, theres enough tension in the world without it creeping into our hobbies too.

May be a tad late, but I do verbally concede, not Alt+F4 concede. Usually, I wait until all my options are done. Once I was playing vs an Elf deck with some wierd UB deck I made from a pile of random cards which is my collection. (In R/L)

He has around 12 elves out, Priest of Titania, Nomadic Elf, particularly, and Corcordent crossroads. I knew he'd play Coat of Arms, and with enough Priests and Seekers out, he'd pay all the storm copies of my counter.

I had Isochron Scepter with AEther Burst on it, Cephalid Looter out, Clone and Phage in my hand. I had 3 Islands, 2 Swamps and a Temple of the False God.

I tapped all my land (2UUUBB), and played Clone (UUBB left), targetting the Priest. Tapped it for 12 G mana (12UBB), using 2 to tap the scepter bouncing clone, and playing it again as Nomadic Elf. (7BB left). I cycled that green mana into black, (3BBBB left), enough to put a nice Hasty Phage into play (Concordent Crossroads, remember?). I could now kill a random blocker. So, I tapped my Cephalid Looter, and hoped to hit my deck's only Wonder, giving me the win, allowing Phage to fly over his elves and kill him directly. The odds against me were like 50:1 (The deck was too big, too). I drew the card, let out a gentle "damn", and got up. "I'm dead."
